RBI annual monetary policy statement 2013-14:-

- Policy repo rate under the liquidity adjustment facility (LAF) has been reduced by by 25 basis points, from 7.5 per cent to 7.25 per cent with immediate effect.
- The reverse repo rate under the LAF also stands adjusted to 6.25 per cent. The RBI took this step to boost flagging economic growth.
- The Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate, both stand adjusted to 8.25 per cent with immediate effect.
- The cash reserve ratio (CRR) of scheduled banks has however been retained at 4 per cent of their net demand and time liabilities.

New Karnataka CM: Siddaramaiah, the leader of the Indian National Congress on 11 May 2013 was sworn in as the 22nd chief minister of the state of Karnataka.
RBI steps: The RBI on 12 May 2013 imposed restrictions on gold import by banks in order to moderate the demand of gold for domestic use.
Asom Ratna Award: The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee presented the Asom Ratna Award for the year 2012 to Indira Goswami (posthumously).
Pakistan Elections: The Election Commission of Pakistan on 14 May 2013 announced results of 272 National Assembly seats, with PML-Nawaz heading the count with 126 seats.
