General Awareness IBPS Exams : SBI PO & Clerk : How to Prepare for High Scores

General Awareness or General Knowledge is one very important section In IBPS CWE for PO, IBPS CWE for Clerks, SBI PO Exam, SBI Clerk Exam and in other Bank Exams. This section acquires more importance because this is one section which can be attempted quickly and at the same time very high marks can be scored in this section.

Type of Questions: The questions in this section are normally asked from Current Affairs and Banking Awareness. However major portion of the questions are from Current Affairs. Type of questions is a little bit different in Bank PO & in Bank Clerk exam.
Bank PO: In PO exam the level of questions are a little bit higher and some time questions are quite deep in nature which means you need to have in depth knowledge of the topics.
Bank Clerk: In Clerk exam the level of questions is quite easy and questions are straight forward in nature.

You should try to get 80% score in this section however with a planned preparation of few months you can score even 90% and above, in this section, which can boost your overall score. If you are preparing regularly for your bank exams you should plan your studies in such a manner that you can devote time on preparation of all the sections. One should regularly devote about two hours for 6-7 months towards preparation of general awareness section, if one wants to score very high marks in this section. 
Which magazines, books etc. one should refer for preparation of General Awareness section?   • Regular reading of News Paper is very important which you should start well before the date of exam or to be precise 6-7 months before the date of your exam. You should read quality news papers such as Economic Times, Times of India, Hindustan Times etc. and should make a habit of noting important points on a daily basis. You should also study the “Diary of Events” given in the weekly magazines “Josh” and “Udaan” of newspapers Danik Jagran and Amar Ujala respectively. You do not need to purchase newspapers as all news papers are available as E-paper and can be easily seen through online mode.
  • Next step is to study from 2-3 quality monthly magazines such as Competition Success Review, Banking Services Chronicle, Pratiyogita Darpan etc. for current affairs portion. You will find that most of the points you have already covered from the news papers itself (If you are noting important points from news papers on a regular basis) and the remaining points or current affairs you can cover from these magazines.
  • You should also attempt objective questions given in monthly magazines and also in quality websites. The more you practice the more you will learn.
