Successful Test by DRDO: DRDO on 10 February 2012 conducted a successful test launch of the interceptor missile. DRDO’s Air Defence Missile AAD-05 successfully hit the ballistic missile and destroyed it at a height of 15 kms off the Coast of Orissa near the Wheelers Island.
Thomas Cook selling its stake in Indian Subsidiary: Thomas cook, the travel company in its announcement made on 8 February 2012 said it will sell its stake in its Indian subsidiary Thomas Cook (India) Ltd (TCIL). Thomas Cook holds 77.1% stake in its Indian subsidiary. The gross monetary value of 77% stake that the Thomas Cook holds in its Indian arm is Rs.879 cr.
Indonesia adopt CTBT: Indonesia became the 157th country to adopt the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. Indonesia formalised ratification of the nuclear test ban treaty on 6 February 2012 at the United Nations.
E - stamp papers: Delhi became the first State in the country to issue e-stamp papers in all denominations after the Cabinet decided to bring non-judicial stamp papers of Rs.500 denomination and below under the ambit of e-stamp mode on 6 February 2012. The complete switchover to e-stamp mode is expected to prevent all fraudulent practices in this field.
Earthquake in Philippines: A 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the central Philippines in the narrow strait between the heavily populated islands of Negros and Cebu on 6 February 2012.
